‘Vida’, a short film by Bita Elahian, will be competing at the 21st edition of the American film event.
‘Vida’ is an Iran-US joint production which deals with president Trump ‘travel ban’ issue. The short title is an attempt to raise awareness about the global issue of migration.
The short flick summarizes itself as, “An Iranian immigrant mom (Vida), who lives in the United States, goes to airport to pick up her daughter when she arrives from Iran. Not only she can’t pick up her but also, she couldn’t see her and they deported her daughter directly from airport to Iran. After one week her life goes to change forever.”
‘Vida’ previously attended the 14th edition of the Indie & Foreign Film Festival where it grabbed Award for Best Student Short Film of the event.
It also appeared at the 16th Int’l Exile Film Festival in Sweden, the 6th Goa Short Film Festival in India, the 19th Vally Film Festival (Los Angeles) as well as the Awareness Film Fest also in LA.
ifilm English has also reported that Iranian short ‘Driving Lessons’ will be another Iran representative at the event.
